A Producers Fansite

Welcome to the producers!

The Producers from 1967 is a satirical black comedy by Mel Brooks. As his debut movie it was very controversial back in the days, but quickly gained a cult status worldwide.

Years later (in the late 1990's) producer David Geffen convinced Mel Brooks to turn the movie into a Broadway Musical. Directed by Susan Stroman and with the lead characters played by Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, the show previewed in Chicago in 2001 and later that year opened on Broadway.

It became a sensation and was nominated for 15 Tony Awards in 2001; winning 12 (winning in every category it was nominated for). This record still stands to this day (2021).

After the success of the show, Brooks took on another try to adapt it into a film; this time letting Susan Stroman direct and casting almost all actors from the original Broadway cast. The movie was released in theaters in 2005 to mixed reviews.

Sadly, even though this show was a megahit, most people nowadays seem to have forgotten about it and the fanbase (which was pretty large between 2001 and 2007) slowly died down. To this day only a few of us (and a few new generation fans) are left.

This site is dedicated to the show, the movies and the people behind it.

Because this work made me laugh so many times and laughs are what this world needs more of!
